History for Columbus Map
Two years later, he formed a dynamic partnership with Lance Columbus Map and Claire Silver and in 2003 hired winemaker Jeff Poe to help handle the growing production at a Columbus Map winery that claims to observe only one rule: have fun. The winery’s estate vineyard is twenty acres, and the winery sources the best red wine grapes from all over the appellation, as well as whites from cooler regions in Arroyo Grande and Monterey County.

The winemakers blend Zinfandel from forty different vineyards, including one that is eighty-five years old, and view the variety as a mighty spice rack from which to blend and create award-winning wines of remarkable depth and complexity. After tasting, visitors who would like to enjoy some wine over a picnic lunch can head to the outdoor patio, a grotto of stone, brick, and glistening tile that easily qualifies as architectural art. From here, they can see the logo on the label mirrored in the distance as the glimmering sun sets over the wild, western hills of Paso Robles.
