The exhibits here focus on various themes related to life and culture in our fair state (er, commonwealth). Recent exhibits include an exploration of the impact of war photography on peopie at home and an examination of the archeaology, technology, and nature of the Quabbin reservoir. Admission is free at all times; hours are 9 am. to 5 pm. Mondays through Fridays, and 9 AM. to 3 P.M. on Saturdays.

Dundee in February 1883 and launched on 7 February 1883 for Robert Taylor and Sons, Dundee, who was the owner at the time of loss. She measured 46.22 m in length, with a 7.03-m beam and 3.58-m draught. The single iron screw was powered by a 60-hp, two-cylinder compound steam engine that used one boiler. She had one deck, four watertight bulkheads and was classed by Lloyd’s as 100 A1. See Dive (1). The small 71-ton steamer Resolute loaded with pig iron became another victim when she sank on the Holy Island bar in 1886. On the night of Saturday, 28 March 1892, the 404-ton steamer Holmrook, of Newcastle, stranded on Emmanuel Head rocks, Holy Island, during a gale; she was on a voyage from Arbroath to The Holmrook is badly holed and much of her cargo was washing out.
