VOGEL STATE PARK
This little state park is located within Chattahoochee National Forest, in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northern Georgia. It has mixed forests and a 20-acre lake.
Activities: There are 19 miles of trails in the area, with most falling outside of state park boundaries. Included are the strenuous 12.7-mile Coosa Backcountry Trail loop, a section of the Duncan Ridge Trail, and also the Appalachian Trail. Fishing is available, and hunting is allowed in season.
Camping Regulations: Primitive camping is limited to the Coosa Backcountry Trail, along with sections of the Appalachian Trail and Duncan Ridge Trail outside of the park.
A free permit is required to use the Coosa Back-country Trail, and backpackers should check inlpon returning. There are no designated campsites, but suitable sites are available along the trail. Campfires are strongly discouraged.
