If more than one audio recorder was recording when an EVP was captured, see if you can hear that noise or voice on the other recorders. Also, check any video camera that may have been filming the area. The movie may clear up any uncertain noises or voices.
Most often an EVP is recorded that seems pretty clear, but we still can’t make out the words or other people don’t seem to hear them at all. That is when we take the audio and run it through software to enhance the sound.
Manipulating audio can make the voices much clearer. If over adjusted the EVP begins to sound like chalk on a blackboard, just shrill squeaking and very mechanical. Only minor adjustments such as white noise elimination, volume, pitch and speed changes should be made. The key word here is “minor.”
