We are now at Ollantaytambo, and this place is absolutely stunning. It’s an ancient Incan town, and we’re gonna climb 200 steps all the way to the top of these old ruins. Let’s go!

You’ve gotta earn the view to the top. Little by little, all the way up. You can see all these terraced fields way behind me and they’re all facing east. And when the sun would rise, it would heat up the rocks.

And at nighttime, the rocks would absorb the heat and continue growing the plants. Pretty smart. So the buildings across the valley are actually for food storage. And they did them up the hill because it was cooler, and that’s where they would store all their food for the city.

Getting closer and closer to the top. I like these kind of places. It’s much more fun than a museum, because you actually get to feel, touch everything. There’s really only one word for this and it’s crazy, how they got these huge rocks from the quarry all the way over here. And not only did they get them over here, but then they fit them perfectly together like Legos. It’s absolutely unbelievable. It is definitely worth your time to spend a day checking out Ollantaytambo.
