Ecology is an abused word in Shenzhen. It’s bandied around wherever you can see a bit of grass and even a lake, or where the path is regularly swept. One of the nicer places where this word is abused is Ecology Square at OCT.
In keeping with the park-like atmosphere of OCT, Ecology Square is built amongst shadetrees and round large grassy squares with lakes and streams running through them. It’s very pleasant. There’s a decidedly arty theme here with coffee and teashops predominating and at night it can get positively Bohemian. For food, we often feel you can’t go past the Southern Rio Brazilian Barbecue which has the usual copious quantities of meat serves up by gaucho looking people with swords 101 Ecology Square Block A, 2691 1959. But mainly we just like sitting with a cup of coffee and watching the antics of the grandparents of the OCT landlords. They have time on their hands and they use it copiously, with constant displays of Kung Fu, Wu Shu, mass dancing, ballroom dancing etc. It’s as relaxing for the spectator as it is for the participants.
