Cologne stretches across the Rhine, but nearly all’ sights and the city center can be found on the western side. The Altstadt is split into Altstadt-Nord, near the Hauptbahnhof, and Altstadt-Siid, south of the Severinsbriicke (bridge).

Tourist Office: Verkehrsamt, Unter Fettenhennen 19 (194 33), across from the entrance to the Dom, provides free city maps and books rooms for a ‚3 fee. Open May-Oct. M-Sa 9am-9pm, Su 10am-6pm; Nov.-Apr. M-Sa 8am-9pm, Su 9:30am-7pm. Currency Exchange: Reisebank, in the train station. Open daily 7am-9pm. Bi-Gay-Lesbian Resources: Schulz Schwulen-und Lesbenzentrum, Kartauserwall 18 (93 18 80 80), near Chlodwigpl. Info, advice, and cafe. The tourist office also offers the Gay City Map with listings of gay-friendly hotels, bars, and clubs.

Pharmacy: Apotheke im Hauptbahnhof, near Gleis 12 ( 139 11 12), in the train station. Open M-F 6am-8pm, Sa 9am-8pm.

Internet access: Galeria Kaufhof, Hohe Str. 41 3rd fl. ‚1.50 per30min.

Post Office: at the corner of Breite Str. and Tunisstr. in the WDR-Arkaden shopping gallery. Address mail to be held: Postlagernde Briefe fur Firstname SURNAME, Hauptpostamt, 50667 Koln, GERMANY. Open M-F 8am-8pm, Sa 8am-4pm.
