6,400 acres. This park in central Florida includes Wekiwa Spring and the Wekiwa River, and there are pine flatwoods and sand hills, swamps and hammocks. Among the area’s wildlife are deer, bear, and bobcat.
Activities: The park has 13 miles of trails for hiking and backpacking. Canoeing and fishing are available on the river.
Camping Regulations: Camping is restricted to two designated backpack camping areas along the trails. It’s necessary to first register at the park office and pay a nominal fee. A maximum of eight campers are allowed to use each area. Fires are permitted in established fire circles.
