History for Ecuador Map Tourist Attractions
Named for the wild mustangs that once roamed the neighboring hills Ecuador Map Tourist Attractions , it remains a local favorite, renowned for its eclectic portfolio of wines, prolific organic vegetable Ecuador Map Tourist Attractions garden, and Floyd, the resident llama. Wild Horse chose the east side of Paso Robles for its vineyard because of the area’s low-vigor soils, believing their lean constitution would force the sustainably farmed vineyard to produce grapes with highly concentrated flavors.
As an ambitious experiment, forty-five acres were planted with thirty-three varietals, some of them considered unusual even by today’s standards. Among the blocks of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were heirlooms like Verdelho, Blaufrankisch, and Malvasia Bianca, from which the winery still produces tasting-room-exclusive vintages. Vineyard workers continue to employ the sustainable methods used early on by the winery. They brew compost tea to feed the vines, use a state-of-the-art water recycling system, and compost the pomace left behind by the grape presses.
