SUGGESTED CLOTHING
Some information concerning clothing during the whole year is afforded herebelow.
– December – January: It is the winter time for Cypriots, though sunshine is not absent, sometimes for protracted periods. Winter clothing, but definetely not heavy coats.
– February – March: Occasional rain with, sometimes, chilly evenings. Warm days are, however, a common phenomenon. March is a spring period. Winter clothing with medium-weight wear.
– April – May: Pleasantly warm days, though temperatures may fall a bit at night. Mediumweight and summer apparel, with woollies for the evenings.
– June – July – August: Summer time with warm temperatures. Very lightweight summer clothing.

– September – October: Warm days with cool October evenings. Lightweight clothing for the day and medium-weight for the evening in October.
– November: Pleasantly warm days. Medium-weight clothing with light woollies.
(a) Newspapers
Cyprus has a large number of daily and weekly newspapers. “Cyprus Mail”, the English newspaper, circulates as daily, while “Cyprus Weekly” circulates as weekly. However, nearly all English and other European newspapers and magazines are on sale, sometimes one day late.

(b) Radio
Radio channel 1 and channel 3 as well as many private radio channels are in Greek while channel 2 transmits programmes in English, Turkish, Armenian and Arabic. It gives bulletins and forecasts of weather as well as music. During the summer tourist season, the programme called “Welcome to Cyprus” is broadcast daily except on Sunday.
The English-speaking tourists can listen to the British Forces Broadcasting Service as well. There are also the BBC World Service programmes.

There are many channels that transmit colour material from the Cypriot T.V. Cyprus T.V. is linked with Greece and Eurovision for live transmission of Euronews as well as of special music, athletic, etc events. The tourists will be able to watch a programme of their liking, even in their own language. In most of the hotels there is access through satellite to most of the well Known channels in the world.

ELECTRICAL CURRENT-VOLTAGE
The electricity supply in Cyprus is 240 volts, 50 cycles A.C. Plugs are usually 5 amp or 13 amp, square-pin in most new buildings. Adaptors can be provided either by the hotel itself or by the local supermarket, grocery shop or electricians.

CURRENCY
The currency of the Republic of Cyprus (as of Jan. 2008) is the Euro () which is divided into 100 cent. Notes in circulation are 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5, while coins are 1 and 2 and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent.
Credit and Debit cards
Credit cards can be used for cash withdrawals in local currency through ATMs located throughout Cyprus and in the arrivals area at Larnaka Airport.
Most of the hotels, shops and restaurants accept Credit Cards. Usually the Card symbol will be displayed in the shop-window or at the Reception.
Eurocheques and traveller’s cheques are also accepted by all Banks and some shops and restaurants.
