Both locations of the Boston Book Annex are terrific for used books.
The Boston store is most geared to popular titles; check out the trademark browsing tables outside the front door, with hardcovers for a dollar and paperbacks for 500.
Most hardcovers are sold at half the original cover price. There are as many sections here as in any retail bookstore, from history to movies to medicine to humor. In addition to popular fiction and non, Mine found a major deal on a “Harvard Classics” literature set fifty volumes of the greats, all for $200 that’s a mere $4 apiece!
The JP branch focuses more on antiquarian and educational textbooks and sets. It even has the impressive look of a law library, complete with rolling wall ladders. Boston is open daily from 10 am. to 10 p.m. Sundays from 12 noon to 10; Jamaica Plain, Mondays through Saturdays from 9-5.
