One of Boston’s earliest public gathering places (see the listing under Museums) continues to serve this purpose with its Middays at the Meeting House lecture series. These take place on Thursdays at 12:15 RM. through the year, and are just $3 ($2.50 for students and seniors). Each month examines a single theme, with different topics from week to week. Subjects have included Paul Cuffee: A Black Yankee Federalist, New England Women at Sea in the 19th Century, and History of Boston’s Chinatown. Music also makes up part of theMid-days series, as in the recent In Concert: New England Brass. Old South also sponsors several evening lecture series. These are free, and include fun topics like Boston Diners: Food, American Style and Burlesque in Boston. Always call ahead to verify times and locations.
