Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center

Located just outside of La Perla del Sur is one of Caribbean’s most important archeological sites, the Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center. The center provides an interesting site to learning more about Puerto Rico’s pre-colonial past, dating as far back as 700AD when the island was inhabited by the Tainos. The Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center is the venue for the many historic ceremonies performed by the indigenous people of Puerto Rico. It houses ball courts, dancing grounds, burial sites, prehistoric plazas, re-created Taino villages, museum and souvenir shops. The Tibes Indian Ceremonial Center offers an in-depth historical experience to Puerto Rico’s ancestral roots. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday and entrance fee is $3 for adults and $2 for kids.
