Located in the former Exeter Street Cinema building, this two-level store was among the first landings of this classy chain in The States. They too discount New York Times bestsellers, by 30%; in addition, staff recommendations sell for 20% off the cover. Apart from these bargains, everything else sells at full price.
The sales staff is very knowledgeable, and stands ready to place special orders, especially for British editions. The reference, literature and classics sections are especially deep here. And many prominent authors visit Waterstone’s for free readings; in recent months, these have included Barbara Kingsolver, Cynthia Heimel, Lani Guinier, and Robert Parker.
