Located on the lakeshore campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, the Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art has earned a worldwide reputation for its research, exhibitions, publications, and campus and community programs. The Museums focus is on prints and drawings from many periods and large sculptures produced by 20th-century European and American artists.
Northwestern University Football
Its collection currently numbers nearly 2.000 works on paper which range from the 13th century to the present by artists of diverse nationalities. The Block Museums outdoor sculpture garden features 17 bronze sculptures by major European and American artists and is considered one of the most significant modernist groupings in the region. It features works by Jean Arp, Virginia Ferrari, Barbara Hepworth, Jean Ipousteguy, Jacques Lipchitz. Joan Miro. Henry Moore, Arnoldo Pomodoro. Antoine Poncet, and others. The Museum also hosts nationally-touring exhibits. Also of possible interest on campus, is the Dittmar Gallery, located in the Norris University Center (see entry above).
