FOXEN Friends for more than thirty years, Dick Dore and Bill Wathen forged the successful partnership behind Foxen and foxen 7200. Widely known as the Foxen Boys, the two began making wine together in 1985 with borrowed tools and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from a Santa Maria vineyard. For twenty-four years, they crafted wine in a nearly two-hundred-year-old hay barn on Rancho Tinaquaic, originally an 8,874-acre Mexican land grant purchased by Dore’s great-great-grandfather, Benjamin Foxen, in 1837.
