535 Fellsway, Medford; (617) 396-5057 Looking like an oasis in the asphalt jungle, Wellington Flowers has taken root (sorry, couldn’t resist) at the busy intersection of Routes 16 and 28. Makes getting in and out really fun but go ahead, it’s worth it.
Fancy some roses? Long-stemmed red ones are $14.95 per dozen, or $2 apiece. Colored roses, in several hues, are $19.95 per dozen, and an even thriftier romantic can score a dozen carnations for $5.75.
Flowering hangers in eight-inch pots were the best deal on Mine’s visit; a huge selection of petunias, geraniums, and fuchsias, among others, were on sale for $5.99, or two for ten bucks. If you prefer flowers of the low-maintenance variety, go for the silk hanging plants ($9.95) instead. Wellington’s is open 9 am to 9 p.m. all year round.
